God is gracious, and His mercy endures forever! Yet, He expects us to obey Him. Our willingness to obey is important to God. It acknowledges our love and reverence for Him. If you search the scriptures, you will find numerous conditional statements. Here are some of them:
But if you indeed obey His voice and do all that I speak, then I will be an enemy to your enemies and an adversary to your adversaries.-Exodus 23:22
if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. – 2 Chronicles 7:14
For if you return to the Lord, your brethren and your children will be treated with compassion by those who lead them captive, so that they may come back to this land; for the Lord your God is gracious and merciful, and will not turn His face from you if you return to Him.-2 Chronicles 30:9
For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.- Matthew 6:14-15
For what credit is it if, when you are beaten for your faults, you take it patiently? But when you do good and suffer, if you take it patiently, this is commendable before God. – 1 Peter 2:20
And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same. – Luke 6:33
If you love me, keep my commandments.- John 14:15
As you can see, the hand of God can be moved through our obedience.
